| Flintstone Home Inspires Contemporary Residence in Malibu, USA Posted: 14 Apr 2012 06:14 AM PDT With witty situations and original characters, the Flintstones became one of the most famous cartoons of all time. But who would have thought that its rocky homes could ever compete with the modern, minimalist residences that are so sought after today? Owned by American game-host Dick Clark and currently up for sale here, this one-of-a-kind home in Malibu, USA, not only comes with a great theme, but also with extensive views of the Pacific Ocean, Boney Mountains and Los Angeles. Seemed to have sprung out from the Stone Age town of Bedrock, the unusual crib displays impressive organic walls, defined by irregular shapes, furniture seamlessly blending with the cave-like interiors and glass windows with stunning vistas. Strangely enough, the overall feeling of this Flintstones inspired project is that of a cozy and original home, difficult not to make an impression to anyone visiting it. | House V in Costa Brava Displaying a Practical Layout Posted: 13 Apr 2012 09:06 AM PDT House V in Costa Brava was recently completed by Barcelona-based studio Magma Arquitectura and was especially developed to meet the living requirements of a large family. According to the architects, “the project is configured as a large stone base, on which stands a large horizontal platform. The permeable cut of the staircase subdivides the platform into two independent bodies. Part of the platform receives the most public and spacious interior areas and the exterior terrace and pool that flies over the Mediterranean garden below. The large exterior terrace is lateral and runs the length of the public area, so it receives the southern sun at one end and captures the view of the horizon between the sea and the sky. Several porches constructed of wood, which also control the sun and privacy, complete the visual prism of the home“. The interiors are elegant and welcoming, with a color palette defined by white and plenty of inspiring details for upcoming contemporary projects. | Versatile and Original: Wall Hung Console #1 by Nico Yektai Posted: 13 Apr 2012 07:42 AM PDT We ran across a furniture piece that captured our attention due to its elegance and originality. Designed by Nico Yektai, this wall hung console comes with an intriguing appearance and a clever storage system. According to the description provided by the designer, “this is the first in the new series of wall hung consoles. The subject is of interest to me because of its versatility. The piece can be used as a console table, a buffet or an entertainment center. The form included drawers which all open in different directions”. Easy to integrate in a variety of modern decors, but also in minimalist ones with a more traditional theme, Wall Hung Console #1 by Nico Yektai is likely to become the focal point of the interior it adorns. “Floating effortlessly on the wall“, the project is easy to install and its massive wood construction and asymmetrical shape can inspire similar furniture improvisations.
