Lenny Kravitz and LEA Ceramiche 1 Lenny Kravitz Extends His Creativity In Tile Design Alongside LEA Ceramiche

An inspired collaboration between famous singer Lenny Kravitz and Italian tile manufacturer LEA Ceramiche led to the creation of a fantastic collection of tiles. Meaning “drop” in Italian, the Goccia Three Dimensional Tile Collection imitates the features of moving water, mirroring the light and capturing shadows in a merger of quality material and imagination. Lenny Kravitz extended his creativity to a new media, helping create a stylized version of water in black and white. You might know that back in 2003, the famous singer set up a design studio that transform’s Lenny’s “eclectic global lifestyle into innovative and dynamic design solutions.” – Kravitz Design Inc. Working with the LEA Ceramiche team resulted in a fabulous set of matte and glossy textures that can be used to beautify either residential or commercial spaces. For sure, Lenny Kravitz’s creativity has found another inspiring outlet expressed in this challenging project.

Milan’s Four Boutique Hotel Suites Boasting Incandescent Design

Town @ House Street 1 Milans Four Boutique Hotel Suites Boasting Incandescent Design

Provoking travelers to be in permanent connection with the city they are visiting, this new hospitality concept seen in the Town @ House Street boutique hotel in Milan merges visuals of the streets in a vivid, hard to ignore collection of spaces. The creator of this unique concept, Alessandro Rosso, describes his vision: “The city becomes your fellow traveler. TownHouse Street is home with all the plus of a hotel, it is a house with the services of a hotel that you can have as at your own place.” He collaborated with Italian architect Simone Micheli to design a set of four PHS (Permanent hospitality spaces) with independent access and electronically controlled by an alphanumeric keyboard.

Guests access the rooms by introducing their reservation code received when booking the room on the web site. The four adjacent spaces compose a private suite of rooms – three of them spread over 35 square meters, while the fourth occupies 50 square meters. Each suite benefits from its own wardrobe, bathroom and kitchen. The Green Suite, the Orange Suite, the Red Suite and the Yellow Suite are not only comfortable, but they complement the impression left by the city itself. Turning a commercial space on the ground floor of a building in Milan proved to be a stunning example of how hospitality joins creativity in a successful project.

Synthetic Grass-Covered Volumes Adorned With Unusual Details

Single family home in Frohnleiten 2 Synthetic Grass Covered Volumes Adorned With Unusual Details

This unusual detached home applying the principles of an Escher painting in architecture displays a volumetric facade covered in a soft synthetic grass, pierced by weirdly placed staircases and large windows adorned with other windows. Yes, it is a lot to take in, but focusing on each detail at a time gives us a complete view of this green residence in Frohnleiten, Austria. Designed by Reinhold Weichlbauer and Albert Josef Ortis of Weichlbauer Ortis Architects, the single family home can be looked at as an exploration of the connectivity between nature and architecture. The concrete structure covered in greenery has vertical corner windows interrupted by another window placed horizontally, shaping a cantilevering railing. Simple concrete stairs leading nowhere construct a fairy-tale scenario, while the surrounding green scape participates in creating a picturesque surrounding. Do you think that this an inspiring project? Or would you rather chose as inspiration one of the 20 Green Walled Buildings presented by Lavinia not long ago?

Coping with a Less Friendly Environment: Japanese Residence Looking Inward

F Residence 01 800x5331 Coping with a Less Friendly Environment: Japanese Residence Looking Inward

As if we did not see enough of their creativity already, here is another interesting example of modern Japanese architecture. Designed by studio Edward Suzuki Architecture, the F Residence is located in Kamakura, a city located in Kanagawa Prefecture, Japan. It is difficult not to observe the museum-like design features of this unusual crib, derived from the idea of building a project that would look inward, rather than expand towards the outdoors. Here is more information from the architects: “The theme, ‘Go in to go out’, was applied to the design of this house and, as a result, the rectangular silhouette of the house was pushed to the boundary limits of the 776 square meter property in the center of which was placed a 15-meter diameter circular patio. The thrust of the planning was to allow each and every room to face and to have a view of this central garden“. On Freshome we usually see projects that take full advantage of their surrounding environment. How would you comment on the alternative presented by the F Residence?

Book Igloo Held Together By Natural Forces And Knowledge

Home by Miler Lagos1 Book Igloo Held Together By Natural Forces And Knowledge

Colombian artist Miler Lagos has been exhibiting since 2002, creating original works like this igloo-resembling installation made of volumes salvaged from the library of a US Navy base. Encompassing knowledge and mind adventure while the body remains under a comfortable, predator-free structure, this installation entitled “Home” was constructed at the MagnanMetz Gallery last year. The artist imagined a 9 foot igloo made of books that would rise without being forced to remain together by any kind of glue, but naturally relying on each other to shape the desired structure. Pages face outwards to shape a color-white-color dynamic, while the spines showing titles of the salvaged books face inward. Missing almost half of the structure, the dome-like book stack substitutes bricks for books, showing a work in progress captured in a moment of time. This compact display found on This is Colossal inspires the thirst for knowledge and the self-made chance to apply that found knowledge.
