Transparent Graph Table For Bold Office Spaces Posted: 20 Apr 2012 06:06 AM PDT Consisting of a clear glass tabletop resting on a folded glass stand, the Graph Table is bold enough to stand out between similar furniture pieces. Belgian designer Xavier Lust collaborated with Italian furniture manufacturers FIAM to create this stunning desk displaying its curved 19 mm thick glass shape that filters each setting it lands in. Secured by polished stainless steel ties that create a visual anchor in reality with their rounded shape, the fluid glass desk lends elegance to its surrounding space. According to its creator, the table boasts a dynamic and simple shape, two important qualities in modern furniture design: “The fast lines of this desk seem to originate from a quick sketch, an impulsive gesture or the analytic curves of a chart. With elegant fluid lines and an immaterial yet equilibrated lightness, Graph affixes it’s signature stamp.” Pair it up with a sleek chair and enjoy a sophisticated office display. Defining A Sloped Property Overlooking Sydney’s Skyline: Mormanis House Posted: 20 Apr 2012 04:55 AM PDT Located in the coastal suburb of Sydney – Dover Heights – the three story residence known as Mormanis House defines its location on a sloping terrain overlooking the city’s skyline and the harbor below. Playing with white and grey details on the front facade and adding glass in the back side, the architects constructed a modern dream home with a powerful duality of a solid and transparent shell. Stone, recycled timber and weathered zinc smash the monotony of simple white walls. Sydney-based MPR Design Group not only imagined a complex outside play of design lines, but also an interior floor plan divided between entertaining and relaxing zones. In order to keep privacy at a maximum level without loosing the calming effect of natural light, architects designed a series of highlight windows and skylights that bypass the lack of windows in some areas. Accessible via the top floor, interior spaces and views are revealed on each level and, as you make your way down the stairs to the private floor sheltering bedrooms and further down to the living spaces open towards a half garden, half pool backside, you can enjoy each detail. What do you think of this inverted floor plan idea? You're reading Defining A Sloped Property Overlooking Sydney’s Skyline: Mormanis House originally posted on Freshome. Simple Elegance In Slovakian Priest’s Residence Boasting Serenity Posted: 20 Apr 2012 01:30 AM PDT Named after the Latin word for ” free time” – Otio – this residence was built for a catholic priest. At first glance, the stone wall and saddle roof look simple and graceful, but a walk around the property reveals an atrium shaped out of the stone wall and leading to the interiors through a glazed wall. Here, built-in furniture, alongside Verner Panton chairs and an Eames Lounge Chair rest on stone floors and contrast with the white walls. With a budget of 150,000 Euro, Sebastian Nagy Architects constructed the home in Dražovce, Nitra, Slovakia as a single person residence spreading over 1,400 square feet. The entrance is guarded by a cross just above the entrance, while the inside allows a clear view of the nearby Roman Catholic church of Francis Xavier. Adapted to suit a modern lifestyle and constructed in the parish garden, the Otio Residence displays its functional design in a successful attempt of becoming a link between the past and the present. Contemporary Apartment Especially Designed for a DJ: FJ House in Brazil Posted: 19 Apr 2012 09:55 AM PDT Project FJ House was designed by São Paulo-based studio Guilherme Torres and is located in São Paulo, Brazil. The 1,453 square foot modern apartment was especially developed for a single owner, combining a business life with that of a DJ. Here is more from the official project description: “The kitchen, integrated to the living room, occupies the area that was previously designed for corridors and lavatory. All the woodwork was designed by the architect and one of the great aspects of the project's interior design was the "high-low" effect, that is, great insights with very low costs. For example, the DJ table, is actually an aluminum ladder that gained a new interpretation. The whole furniture line follows an unassuming style, inspired in the 70's. The Master suite gained a bathtub integrated to the sleeping area, a transgression more than welcome on this contemporary way of living”. The apartment below is a remodel of an 80′s apartment, which was brought down and designed from scratch. What do you think of the final result?
