Massive Doheny Residence with Opulent Displays in the Hollywood Hills Posted: 19 Apr 2012 06:18 AM PDT Doheny Residence is a modern residence with a privileged location in the Hollywood Hills, envisioned by Italian architect Luca Colombo. The project is characterized by a high level of openness, even on the side facing the street, where illuminated stairs invite visitors inside. However, the spectacular facade opposite to the street has a lot more to offer. From an impressive swimming pool to a barbecue area and outdoor bar, this is just one of the areas of the project where the inhabitants can enjoy the much talked about comfort and opulence of a Hollywood home. Once inside, the double-height walls and highly modern interiors with tasteful arrangements are likely to make a strong impression also. The Doheny Mansion in Los Angeles is currently available for sale for $ 10,900,000. For this amount, you get five bedrooms, six bathrooms and a neighborhood with famous residents. Exotic Modern Villa in Thailand Overlooking the Andaman Sea Posted: 19 Apr 2012 05:01 AM PDT Taking in the infinite views and inspiring sunsets on the Andaman Sea, this exotic residence located in Kamala, Phuket, Thailand accommodates no less than five bedrooms, on a total built area of 2160 square feet. Built on a hilltop, the villa not only takes in the surrounding beauty; the interiors are decorated with elements staying true to Thai national traditions. But this is as far as it goes- with a jaw-dropping price tag of $9 million, comfort is obvious in every room of the mansion and is reflected in opulent furniture items and extravagant decorating ideas. However, the most striking feature of this all equipped modern Thai villa is a 969 square feet infinity swimming pool, surrounded by vegetation and overlooking the sea and hills. A poolside terrace with comfortable lounge chairs becomes the transition space between the exterior and the plethora of indoor living facilities. Elegant Tianxi Oriental Club in China Paying Tribute to Wooden Interiors Posted: 19 Apr 2012 03:29 AM PDT When it comes to modern design, China is one of the countries definitely not lacking inspiration. Tianxi Oriental Club was envisioned and implemented by Deve Build Design and is located in Huizhou, a city located in central Guangdong province. One look at the interiors of this contemporary gathering setting and a potential visitor is likely to feel overwhelmed by the height of the originally-designed walls. Wood is the material which dominates throughout the oriental club, adding a distinctive label to the place. The seating units disrupt the homogeneous color palette, by adding an interesting mix of black&white. Even though the space is continuous, the layout of the tables ensures a high degree of privacy. All in all, you are looking at an elegant Chinese club, perfect both for intimate encounters and group gatherings. Eye-Catching Kitzbuehel Mansion Overlooking the Alps Posted: 19 Apr 2012 02:06 AM PDT Taking advantage of the beautiful views of the Alps from its location in Kitzbuehel, Austria, this modern mansion displays a studied approach to customized architecture. Provoking the mind to accept a different facade than it is used to, the Kitzbuehel Mansion blends with its rural surroundings, but also speaks a contemporary architectural language. The Austrian residence was split into two zones – one for social living to the East and the other one for sleeping, to the West. Linked by a glass partition on the ground floor and an elevated path on the upper part, these two volumes construct an eye-catching locally sourced Tyrolean wood-cladded house. Completed in 2011 by Hamburg-based studio Splendid Architecture, the 7,750 square foot beauty is compartmentalized into three levels built into the steep slope. Concrete floors cover the interiors and natural light floods the spaces through beautifully adorned windows that capture picturesque views of the Alps. Three-Volume Residence Resting On A Sloped Property Posted: 18 Apr 2012 09:30 AM PDT The residential structure named Anti Patio House is composed of three containers that capture the essence of modern living. These three volumes were designed to perfectly adapt to the property – a hillside terrain oriented towards the East, defined by “a 10-15 km panoramic view characteristic of a penthouse” – as described by the creative minds behind this project. This contemporary home designed by Drozdov Partners is located in Kharkov, Ukraine, in a picturesque setting. A terraced property profile proved to be challenging, but the final result is a magnificent modern home made out of three 60 square meter containers each. The natural slope of the hillside allowed the architects to place two perpendicular containers on top of each other, while the third one sits separately and shelters the guest suite. The lower volume is occupied by the living spaces, while the upper one – resting on the slope – was risen to take advantage of the beautiful surroundings. A terrace wraps around two sides of the house, pierced by an inviting swimming pool and honestly open to the views, as are the social areas. Modern Resort Granting Easy Access to the Great Barrier Reef: Hayman Hotel Posted: 18 Apr 2012 08:13 AM PDT Hayman five-star Hotel is located on a privileged island in Australia, and provides easy access to the Great Barrier Reef. The natural beauty surrounding the resort is just minutes away from exploring. This is probably why the 240 luxurious rooms of the hotel, included in suites, penthouses, villas and beach houses, are not just a way of guest pampering, but can also be considered the starting point of an unforgettable nature adventure. The hotel’s playful appearance, contrasted by the green forests and blue waters of the surrounding swimming pool, sets the tone for a holiday-inspired scenery. The interior design of the accommodation units tastefully combines modern details (precise geometric shapes and floor to ceiling glass windows) with more traditional furniture and wooden accents. The overall feeling is that of elegance and refinement throughout. You're reading Modern Resort Granting Easy Access to the Great Barrier Reef: Hayman Hotel originally posted on Freshome.
