Sensational Train Station Clock Sheltered by Tower Hotel Room in Belgium Posted: 10 Jun 2012 03:05 AM PDT If you are a fan of unusual accommodation, wait till you see this crazy hotel room! Designed by Japanese artist Tazu Rous, this temporary private space situated 75 feet above the ground in Ghent, Belgium, was developed around the giant clock belonging to the local train station. Seen on technabob, the project is original to say the least. Since its inauguration, the hotel room got many strange, yet creative reviews- it was even associated with a torture chamber (although we don’t believe it still rings every hour). The designer explained that the tower hotel is a way of paying tribute to a city landmark, which the inhabitants of Ghent, as well as tourists from all over the world, can experience up close. Booking a stay in this intriguing giant clock room costs 105 Euros per night. Would you consider spending a night here? Absorbing Swedish Apartment Blending Color and Personality Posted: 10 Jun 2012 01:45 AM PDT 104 square meters were just enough for the designers to exercise their imagination and turn this Swedish apartment located in a historic building, into an inspiring modern home. As you can see from the plans in the last photo of the post, the stylish loft consists of two bedrooms, a generous open plan living room and a single bathroom- a layout that is just enough to meet the needs of a growing family. Purple was the color employed to liven up the living room, an interior reminiscent of the building’s historic past. Exposed wooden beams and a traditional fireplace give the place the warmth it needs for social gatherings. The bedrooms are small, yet comfortable and practical.  The generous terrace offers the inhabitants the opportunity of outdoor relaxation. U-Shaped Residence in Missouri With a Spectacular Outdoor Courtyard Posted: 09 Jun 2012 02:03 PM PDT Hufft Projects Studio completed the design for a project entitled Curved House and located in Springfield, Missouri, USA. The residence displays a “U”-shape and clean, distinctive lines. The focal point of the entire property is an outdoor courtyard, with a large swimming pool and a custom fire pit, perfect for romantic encounters and memorable parties. Here are more details provided by the architects: “A signature masonry wall gently curves in two places signifying both the primary entrance and the western wall of the pool cabana. An eclectic and vibrant material palette of brick, Spanish roof tile, Ipe, Western Red Cedar, and various interior finish tiles add to the dramatic expanse of the residence. The client's interest in suitability is manifested in numerous locations, which include a photovoltaic array on the cabana roof, a geothermal system, radiant floor heating, and a design which provides natural daylighting and views in every room“.
