Ballerina-Inspired Giselle Lounge Table From Russia Posted: 29 Mar 2012 05:54 AM PDT What happens when creativity meets passion? Here is a good example – the Giselle Lounge Table was born out of Russian interior and product designer Anna Neklesa’s passion for beauty and ballet. Its round tabletop – made of steel or powder-coated aluminum – were bent to form pouches underneath that resemble a ballerina’s tutu. Elegant oak wood legs imitate a ballerina’s legs while performing. The statement Anna made comprises the inspiration and need to promote one of Russia’s most treasured features: “I was wondering – what new look of mother Russia I would like to reveal to the world community? And it was ballet. Nothing expresses the Russian spirit like this form of art. For several centuries, fragile and pretty ballerinas with a strong and passionate character excited the minds of the intelligent all over the world. I wanted to express the beauty of the Russian soul in this table, to combine the fragility and the strength. “Spotted on BeautifulLife, the Giselle Lounge Table is not only stable in spite of its two legs, but also modern, fairytale-like and elegant to the core. Casual Home in Montana Designed for Entertainment: River Bank House Posted: 29 Mar 2012 04:43 AM PDT River Bank House was designed by Balance Associates Architects and is located in Big Sky, Montana. Especially developed for clients who love entertainment, the residence accommodates a casual atmosphere and strong indoor-outdoor connections. According to the architects, “the house is separated into the main living area and the guest wing. The guest area is designed so that it can be shut off from the rest of the house when unoccupied and set back to a lower temperature when not in use. Additionally, the two wings of the house bend in order to capture the best views of the river and create a protected entry courtyard. The large roof over the living room serves to shade large areas of glass in the summer, while geothermal heat pumps and high levels of insulation help keep it warm and energy efficient in the winter“. How would you comment on this mix of cottage-like appearance and modern design?

Accordion-Inspired Office Furniture: The Homework Table Posted: 29 Mar 2012 02:32 AM PDT Musical instruments are a noble and original source of inspiration for modern design. This accordion-inspired Homework Table, designed by Nika Zupanc is a relevant example. Seemingly a common, minimalist table at a first glance, this furniture item has a special feature hidden within. By turning a side handle, accordion folders come out of the table top and reveal plenty of storage options for various office objects. This table is a good alternative for a home desk and, as its name suggest, would go great in the children’ room. Its simple and elegant design make it easily adaptable to a variety of interiors. The only downside would be that once all those office items are carefully placed into the accordion shelves, the table can no longer be “packed up”. How do you find its design? Elegant and Sustainable Radiator Design by Giovanni Tomasini: Bloom Posted: 29 Mar 2012 12:23 AM PDT We received photos and information about a new sustainable radiator design by Giovanni Tomasini. Here is the press release we were sent: “Bloom draws inspiration from the blossoming and blooming of nature's elements, as well as from Lucio Fontana's reinterpretation of flat volumes in art: Like Fontana's slash on canvas, in fact, Bloom goes beyond the two dimensions. Designed by Giovanni Tomasini as an explicit reminder of the universe's organized chaos and primordial crystalline forms, Bloom wants to communicate the energy of a surface that opening, follows a geometric balance in order to offer all its warmth. Bloom is a product designed to reduce waste, according to ecological values. In the hydraulic version, the heating circuit, wisely distributed, takes an amount of water 20 times lower than a conventional radiator. This is due to technology used by HOTECH, which requires a very limited involvement of the masses. Moreover, the use of noble materials such as aluminum and copper, allows quick and effective heat transfers in the environment, as well as a saving of energy and performances without parallel. Moreover, in the electric version a portable radio thermostat gives full control of the temperatures and complete functions programming. Available in a wide range of colors, the varnishing is done with latest generation plants, and by using eco-friendly paints. Moreover, handmade sheeting in gold, silver or copper leaf are offered, according to Italian artisan tradition”.
