Small Apartment Design with Modern Features in the Philippines

modern apartment 6 Small Apartment Design with Modern Features in the Philippines

Gabriel  Perez, president of Green Asia Real Estate and Development, sent us photos and information about a relatively small apartment (69 square meters) located in Manila, the Philippines. Here is the description we were sent: ” The owner, despite having a small space, loves to entertain guests and thus configured an open floor layout. The all-white living room features an L-shaped leather couch accented by a steel-mounted Black Emperador marble center table. Above the couch is a circular-patterned mirror piece that hangs opposite the entertainment cabinet. The owner/designer used combination shades to elongate the feel of the space. At night when these panels become a mix of black and white, the shades become an instant focal point.

The dining room is similarly linear with a table for six that uses a glass top to “lighten” the vibe. Above the dining table hangs a customized acrylic chandelier that complements the owner’s clean and stark aesthetic. The leather chairs are accented by steel legs. The ceiling height that spans more than 3meters, accented by cove lighting, gives an airy feel to the space. All across the apartment are jamb-less swing doors to create a seamless look and further open up the space. The bedroom is likewise a play of black and white with huge mirror panels. The ceiling again coves to provide an accent to the all black padded headboard”. Find the design of this small apartment practical?

Beach House 1 Beach Home in Peru Displaying a Striking Modern Design

Beach House E-03 was designed by Lima-based studio Vértice Arquitectos and is located in Palillos Beach, 72 miles south of Lima, Peru. This modern residence has a total surface of 3,186 square feet and was built on an irregularly-shaped terrain, having unobstructed sea views: “Taking advantage of the slope of the lot, the project features different materials and textures in three levels that work together as a unit, obtaining several space relations between the interior and the outside. According to the requirements of the site, the volumes are designed at different levels like platforms on the ground, emphasizing on the main volume. The central space is closed in three directions, to avoid direct solar entrance and eye contact with the neighboring lands”. The three levels of the residence accommodate five bedrooms (first level), a social area (second level) and a social area extension plus roof deck (third floor). How would you comment on the location and design of this modern home?

Four Residential Volumes Gathered Under One Name: Farmyard

Farmyard by Hilberink Bosch Architects Four Residential Volumes Gathered Under One Name: Farmyard

Constructed where not long ago old sheds used to be, on a protected side of the river Maas in the Netherlands, this fantastic collection of four residential volumes bear the simple name of “Farmyard“. The small village of Oud-Empel seemed to be the perfect place to erect this interesting barnyard with a residential function replacing the traditional agricultural one. Designed by Hilberink Bosch Architects, the residential complex gathers four barn-like structures that shape a modern residence with all the necessary amenities. The main brick house acts as the primary entrance to the residential complex, with two large chimneys expressing its function. The main volume is connected to two of the volumes via a central courtyard, while the fourth volume is invisible from the street, being located on slightly lower ground. Comprising new building technologies and traditional materials, the Farmyard would surely take you back on a journey to a simpler life while offering comfort and a beautiful design.

AC Apartment by Square ONE Romanian Penthouse Apartment In White, Black and Brown

Romania’s capital, Bucharest, is home to this very modern and elegant apartment. Designed to display simple, clean lines on the edge of coldness, the AC Apartment combines black, brown and white in a light, wood-adorned set of interiors. Bucharest-based Square ONE studio designed this project as an open floor collection of spaces where glass panels and curtains divide the functional interiors. Being a penthouse apartment with four rooms, two bathrooms and plenty of storage space, the AC Apartment displays supporting structure pillars covered with MDF panels veneered with nut plywood, composing an inviting space.

Its living/dining/ cooking space was designed around two central volumes – the kitchen island and the wooden volumes incorporating the TV. With a mirroring kitchen backsplash, the spaces looks bigger and breaks the monotony of a black kitchen. The master bedroom and bathroom share the same space, divided by glass and curtains. Organic-inspired designs adorn the shower, while the round lights manage to sweeten rough angles seen throughout the penthouse apartment. See something you don’t like?

Your Diet’s Worst Enemy : The Candy Stop Coyoacan

The Candy Stop Coyoacan Your Diets Worst Enemy : The Candy Stop Coyoacan

Candy and eye-candy meet in the Candy Stop Coyoacan – a fresh candy store brand in Mexico City. Its location in a traditional neighborhood makes the creative interior design stand out even more – sinuous purple lines shape a mind-opening shelf design that holds the brand’s products and attracts customers right from the storefront. Looking through the glass partition separating the street from “the promised land”, you can see the double height, half colored half tiled surface that prevents the existence of a boring, outdated design. Its creators – ROW Studio – have an eye for details and creative minds: “The entire exhibition is contained in an undulated rack that becomes a continuous purple ribbon that fuses with the floor and main desk in different moments. The same color is used to frame the transitions between spaces and at the main entry to the store.

The Candy Stop Coyoacan 2 Your Diets Worst Enemy : The Candy Stop Coyoacan

An existing second floor was partially demolished to create a double height area at the entrance enhancing a much needed sense of spatiality to the storefront. The upper surfaces of the walls are tilted to the inside in a quasi pyramidal shape, sharpening even more the perceivable height by elongating the visuals. This surfaces are completely covered by a repetitive pattern of abstracted gummy bears designed by industrial designer Ariel Rojo acting as a loose reference to the patterns and textures common in traditional architecture. The materials remind of the nature of the product: solid, reflective and continuous surfaces that are both easy to clean and strikingly vibrant. An eye candy for sweets.” Flashing this kind of design, the candy store found on RetailDesignBlog can become your diet’s worst enemy in no time.

Functional furniture- we all love it, especially those living in small spaces. Eco-friendly features – we all search for them and hope they become more and more familiar. The Smallroom collection of seating elements combines function and modern design and hides the story of wanting to create a greener office space. These elements were gathered in the design of three items of 1 meter, 1,5 meters and 2 meter long that can be arranged in many ways, shaping different configurations.

Someone using this seating unit can either work on their laptop or enjoy the plants seen in the “weed” configuration or even have a conversation in the tête à tête configuration. Side and back panels are just the right height – high enough to offer privacy and low enough to avoid blocking views. Designed by Dutch designer Ineke Hans, the Smallroom also features armrests that can have different functions – simple upholstery for resting, wood-covered and with optional power sockets for laptops and a container version for storing magazines in reception areas or plants in waiting rooms. Produced for Swedish company OFFECCT, the Smallroom seating configuration offers a modern alternative for highly used office and waiting room furniture.

Hunter House 4 Daring Modern Architecture in Australia: Hunter House

Hunter House is an imposing contemporary residence designed by studio Darren Carnell Architects and located in Australia. Its exterior appearance is said to contrast the neighboring buildings, suggesting a daring, unusual lifestyle. Here is more from the architects: “The house reflects the natural beauty of the red gums that inhabit the parkland both inside and out the home. The grey and white tones of the bushland are expressed through zinc and antique white render as well as reclaimed timber columns. The rich palette of natural timbers and stone flows from the outside in being an essential element to achieve the understated elegance of the home.” The interiors of the residence form large flowing areas, strongly connected to the outdoors. How would you comment on the layout of this modern home? [Photos by: Peter Clarke, Emma Cross]

Modern Bank Design Experimenting with Color and Geometry in Poland

PKO Bank 14 Modern Bank Design Experimenting with Color and Geometry in Poland

PKO Bank Polski is a private bank in Poland with an intriguing looking headquarters designed by Robert Majkut. Envisioned using black, white and gold, the project stays true to the bank’s visual identity. But color was not the only factor to consider: “The theme of delicate grid was treated in a very innovative way â€" a bi-dimensional pattern was completely transformed by introducing an additional dimension: it was made spatial by being projected on the tri-dimensional model of the interior. To achieve this effect special software for parametric design was used, which allowed for the creation of a complex and ordered structure formed as a transformation of the subtle grid of lines converging in one abstract point“. According to the designers, it is this mix of mathematic analysis and human creativity that make the interiors of the PKO Bank Polski special.
