Simple-Shaped Contemporary Family Home in Jozefow, Poland Posted: 16 Mar 2012 06:48 AM PDT House in Jozefow is a two story, modern home, designed by studio ZAG Architekci and located in Jozefow, Poland. The architecture plan aimed at maximizing the beautiful views over the nearby Lodz Hills Landscape Park, while paying tribute to simplicity and functionality: “We came up with a simple form laid out on the plan of a prolonged rectangle, covered with a gable roof. The whole day zone, including the living room, the dining room and the kitchen, was designed as a single space opening with large picture windows to the south, over a spacious terrace and a beautiful view. The night zone, that is the bedroom with a bathroom and the dressing room are located in the eastern part of the building. The rooms in the northern part: the study, the laundry room, a bathroom and two guest rooms upstairs do not need to be so brightly lit”. How would you comment on the interior design of this home? Modern Concrete Home With Spacious Interiors in Israel Posted: 16 Mar 2012 02:50 AM PDT Studio Sharon Neuman Architectscompleted a modern 2,200 square foot concrete home in Israel, for a family with three children. The architects explain the reasons behind this design approach: “ After giving a great amount of consideration to the functionality of the space and the movement scheme, we have decided to build a split level house, placing the master bedroom half way between the public area and the children's space. The scheme evolved into an L shape plan with the Master Bedroom placed in the middle, outside the L, being surrounded by its 2 wings. Since basement was not part of the requirements, we decided to hang the Master Bedroom as a cantilever, thus freeing the space beneath it, enlarging the garden and allowing interesting views across the lot.” The residence features contemporary interiors, with the double height living room acting as the core of the project. Premium Collection of Kitchens and Wardrobes by Henrique Steyer Posted: 15 Mar 2012 11:27 PM PDT Designed by architect Henrique Steyer, from Albus Design for Brazilian furniture manufacturer Florense, the Charm Collection is a new premium line of kitchens and wardrobes. The collection is said to take inspiration from the past, highlighting the attention to detail and fine woodwork, a blend of modern products based on old traditions. Several product lines were created, each one based on subjects that derive their histories from the pas: “I would like to see the future, designed based on my background.Going back is not for everyone, but it is worth a lot. It is worth it, even for a minute, to feel peaceful again. To predict the future, we study the past, reconstructing the present. We study without nostalgia or melancholy, but with the wisdom about bringing back to the current day all that was beautiful and has not been lost“. Oregon Coast Beach Weekend Retreat by Boora Architects Posted: 15 Mar 2012 10:53 AM PDT Boora Architects designed the Oregon Coast Beach House as a set of two different-sized volumes linked by a large covered deck. The smaller front volume shelters the two car garage on the first floor and an office space on the second floor, while the larger volume is separated into public and private spaces. The garage/office volume was covered with a hybrid copper rooftop that forms an origami-joined ceiling. Overlooking Siletz Bay, the 2,865 square foot Oregon Coast Beach House displays an U-shaped floor plan arranged around a central courtyard and capturing 180-degree views of the natural surrounding landscape from the larger volume’s mostly glazed second floor. Constructing a powerful duality – spaces for contemplation and connecting with nature versus private, quiet rooms – Boora Architects designed the coastal weekend retreat for the enjoyment of its inhabitants: “The upper floor in the largest of the two buildings is extensively glass-walled. Windows crescendo from 8 to 15-feet tall at the most outward facing point. A large covered deck extends the indoor footprint by nearly an additional 1/3, joining the massing of the residence, framing an outdoor invisible wall. The lower level is more private, with two bedrooms, two bathrooms and a flex room–a space that converts open living area into a guest bedroom by pulling two eight-foot sliding hemlock accordion pocket panels to form walls. A 45-foot long covered walkway sided in horizontal slats forms the base of the U-shape. The landscaped courtyard fuses building with walkway, creating focus on where interior and exterior spaces merge. Tasteful Home Remodeling by Maurice Padovani: Le Prado Residence Posted: 15 Mar 2012 03:59 AM PDT Le Prado Residence in Marseilles, France. was recently redesigned by French architect Maurice Padovani. Here is an excerpt from the official project description:“This former smallholding flanked by a stable was renovated in three steps. At the very end of the nineties, the young family setting up on the first floor gladly agreed to the two children sharing the same room for a time. The volume is then entirely freed from all its partitions and false-ceilings thus revealing a rich and space-structuring framework. Behind the complexity of the assemblings of beams and joists, the parents' bedroom slips in; open to the living room and accessible by a metal stairway. The main wall's top is entirely open and the old staircase, formerly external, is integrated to the house's volume thanks to the installation of galvanized steel bays which oblique uprights give rhythm to the surface”.
