Spectacular Thailand Villa Built Around a Central Swimming Pool Posted: 08 Mar 2012 08:30 PM PST Integrated within a scenic landscape, on the beach of Koh Samui island in Thailand, Villa Mia‘s architecture is inspired by the Balinese style of many pavilions built around a central courtyard and enclosing a swimming pool. According to the official villa description, “the entrance pavilion faces the ocean, and on the right of the entrance is a large garage area. To the left is a fitness room and the staff quarters. One pavilion is home to the open-plan kitchen, dining area and living area. Beyond the kitchen is a doorway leading out to a covered Thai-style kitchen.The two pavilions on either side of the central swimming pool make up the villa’s living and sleeping areas. The first bedroom, which looks out onto the pool, has a central walkway leading into the stunning en-suite bathroom with doors opening to a private outdoor courtyard full of tropical plants, stone sculptures and wooden decking surrounding an over-sized terrazzo bathtub. The other two bedrooms mirror the first two bedrooms in the opposite pavilion. The master bedroom is in a separate pavilion and opens onto the garden“. Found on Skeppsolmen, this 141 square meter home with a double-height living area and 3,5 rooms mirrors a modern lifestyle, yet with respect for the traditional.With a dominant white and gray color palette, the overall impression is that of space and soberness. Classic details which characterize the historic building of this home are mixed with modern elements, with harmonious results. The focal point of the apartment is the living room, with inclined walls, a large sofa and original shelving units. The bookcase wall is ingeniously continued upwards by a tiny desk and further storage ideas. A south facing terrace with seating for six and barbecue makes this apartment even more inviting. Intriguing Architecture Details Showcased by an Australian Family Residence Posted: 08 Mar 2012 11:48 AM PST With an impressive modern architecture and featuring a swimming pool suspended 36 feet above the ground, Treetops Residence was designed by Australian studio Artas Architects & Planners and constructed by D Pearce Constructions. The building is located in Brisbane, Australia and is surrounded by a lush green landscape which ensures a high level of privacy. Here is more from the project developers: “The house's centerpiece is a sky pool with living areas wrapped around its striking boldness creating a place of tranquility, where water, space and sky come together. The house cleverly and effortlessly fuses between separate, living and entertaining areas, parents retreat, office, children's and guest areas. The entry floor contains a three-car garage with off street parking for three visitor's cars. From the garage you enter the lower foyer featuring marble floors, striking stainless steel and glass handrails around timber stairs. The wine cellar and media room are also accessed from this foyer. The laundry is discretely positioned on this floor, as is a full bathroom. The guest area contains two bedrooms, one a master bedroom with walk in robe, ensuite and large elevated deck. The main floor is entered by a striking and private entry featuring terrazzo, stainless steel and natural stone”.
