Venetian Elegance and Nobility : Romeo and Juliet Hotel Posted: 04 Mar 2012 05:03 AM PST Alberto Apostoli Architecture & Design sent us one of their projects completed in Venice, Italy. Here is an excerpt of the official press release we were sent: “Gruppo Bertoli inaugurated the hotel entitled Il nido di Giulietta & Romeo in San Cassano, designed to pay tribute to Venetian traditions, with a modern touch of force and creativity that are aimed at meeting the needs of exclusive and demanding customers. The project concerns the ground floor and the noble floor of an ancient building located in the vicinity of the Rialto bridge, which can be accessed on fool from one of the largest and most luminous squares, called Campo San Cassian, or sailing along the building. The rooms, large and brightly lit, have preserved the precious details of the frescoes and of the decorative motifs of the ancient building, such as the Venetian tradition of mosaics, columns, portals and the well, giving to them the preeminence that they deserve. Harmonious and elegant light effects are combined with strong colors, which characterize the rooms and the comfort guaranteed by the numerous services offered by modern hotel structures. The ‘emotional path’ starts in a double height space where the original wall is located, and it is further enhanced by the mirror covered walls that create special reflection effects with the red and black walls, and most of all with the wall lined with precious Bisazza mosaic tiles. The kitchen, where breakfast is cooked, and the caretaker room, are located on the ground floor. The path continues on the first floor: a large stone staircase leads to the 60 square meter hall, which is fitted with a glazed wall facing the street of San Cassian. The suites cover a surface area of 25-30 square meters each and are characterized by different themes that are enhanced by the colors of the furnishings and by the fabrics used for the curtains and the bedspreads”. Private Residence Dissolving Indoor/Outdoor Boundaries Posted: 03 Mar 2012 07:26 AM PST Basing their designs on originally and individuality, Israel-based studio Lanciano Design creates contemporary residences “for people that understand the difference”. You might remember the design studio’s work from the Sea Shell Residence Lavinia presented a while back. This particular private residence you can see in the photos below captures both the comfort of living in a carefully designed collection of spaces and the welcoming effect a perfectly manicured garden offers. The light colored volumetric architecture is pierced by sliding glass doors on the first floor, connecting the living area to the large deck and inviting owners to spend some time in the swimming pool. An outdoor dining space is protected by a cantilevering second floor, while the adjacent lounge zone with trees and flowers cut into the deck dissolves the boundaries between indoor living and outdoor relaxation and entertaining.
